    Sunfish Identification

I definitely like the looks of that and will do some research on Triton Sails.

    Sunfish Identification

I particulary like Boreas. Better keep the block- thank you for that advice Beldar.

    Sunfish Identification

I had been thinking about bypassing my block and sailing unencumbered like this and kind of miss the hook on the old Sunfish. Also, I have not named my boat yet. Thinking about getting a red and white striped sail for my boat out here and taking the Colada sail to Wisconsin for the old boat...

Laser road trailer - What's the perfect setup?

On the Sunfish Forum in the Sunfish knowledge section under "trailers" there are photos of trailers that people have built. Not sure if it's much help but may be worth a look if you haven't already. Really like Theiuster's setup by the way!

    Sunfish Identification

Really nice to see an older boat in such great condition. Thanks for posting.

    Draft stripes

Are draft stripes the same as "tells"? And (I am a bit reticent to ask this) would sailors rather stand out or not or does it depend on their status in the race?

    Changing Rudder Pivot Point

My sail has the grommet at the tack but only sail clip holes on the front edge. This can be seen in the picture Andy provided. The white sail clip at the top of the image is attached to what I assume is a weaker (?) grommet. I want to get a reinforced grommet like Andy's to add a similar...

    Changing Rudder Pivot Point

Well Andy, after I get my outhaul and cunningham rigged up, maybe I can copy this modification too. I plan on taking the sail to Sausalito for the grommet this week.

    Draft stripes

Ignorant but curious here. Is it that draft stripes cause a boat to stand out and more likely to be seen if committing a penalty?

Seen this? New Kid in Town. Laser with 29'er-ish sail

Thanks for the post. Your videos are always so cool. I was out at Tomales Bay yesterday and I'm a bit better with my boat and realized the benefit of my hiking strap. Almost capsized a couple of times and got thrown overboard by a newbie move- grabbed the boat on my way over but got dunked. The...

    '67 Sunfish

We have the hook on the old Sunfish and I like it quite a bit. You can pull the mainsheet under it and slid your hand up to grab a higher part of the line. I'm still getting used to my block.

    Price adjustment

Mine came with the fiberglass dagger board and rudder but the "race' version was a few hundred more if I remember correctly.

    Price adjustment

I had been wondering because I was able to insure the boat for the price at which I purchased it and that price had gone up. Doubt that will ever be a problem and my insurance is $30 a year. On one of my first trips, I was just about home and stopped to let some people walk across a busy street...

    Price adjustment

The price went from $4,220 to $5,170 which seems like a heck of a mark up in six months. I'm no economist but I thought something might be affecting it beyond simple supply and demand. Maybe just new tariffs? I'm not sure about other U.S. based dealers. I suppose it could just be the place I...

    Video: Sailing Full Moon Tides

Got that date in mind Eyeper, hope to make it and be one of the few. Wouldn't want to go there by myself though...

    Price adjustment

Last summer, I bought this Sunfish new and though I have since seen other boats I like (Lasers), it's probably the best choice for me. I registered it, received the pink slip and I also insured it on my AAA policy, you know, in case it goes bouncing down the highway. I noticed that the place I...

    Found this on Facebook

Interesting to see how sails are made. I need to get a new one for the Sunfish in Wisconsin...thinking of a red and white one with a window.

    Long Winter’s Nap

Thank you Menno, and many happy and healthy years to you and your family.I went to college just north of Eureka in Arcata CA. Humboldt Bay and some of the lagoons north of there are great for sailing.I had a Snark for a while up there. It is about four hours north of where I am now. Santa Rosa...
