    Repeated capsizing

I sail solo most of the time and head to the launch ramp when the wind reaches about 10 knots, I want to sail not swim. If your lake sailing the wind can change direction and speed at any time, which is why you should try not to cleat the lines, you may not have time to uncleat them when a gust...

    New Guy questions :)

Also, consider installing a Hobie Baby Bob masthead float. Without it the boat will turtle and be nearly impossible to right when you flip it, because the masthead will be stuck in the mud. I have flipped my boat on purpose twice, once without the mast head float and in less than a minute the...

    New Guy questions :)

fhhuber is correct. But since it is painted and peeling off, consider sanding all the paint off and then treat it with a marine teak oil, once a year. On my boat I sanded it all down and applied 15 coats of Zspar Captians varnish, it has a mirror finish and looks outstanding, but my boat is...

'90 Capri 14.2 keel problem launching

I have that problem unless I make sure the centerboard is "ALL" the way up. A number of times I thought it was all the way up, only to have to climb aboard and raise it the last two or three inches. I stand on the end of it and pull hard on one he ropes that holds it up, just pulling on the rope...

    A new Capri 14.2 owner

I raise my mast solo every time I sail (I'm 68 years old). Here's how: I replaced my main halyard with one long enough to reach from the foot of the mast all the way up the mast, through the masthead, then back down to a point on the support on the trailer that holds the mast while trailering...

I have not yet bought new sails from SLO Sails but they have repaired both my main and jib as well as made my boat cover. I have been in their sail loft 4 times over the last 5 years and they are very professional and easy to work with. When the time comes for new sails, I will buy from them...

    83' 14.2 #53 resurrection

Karl is correct, but yours need to be replaced, it should be tight enough so it almost stretches straight across from one side to the other. Both front and rear hiking straps should be high enough off the deck for you to get your feet under them without looking down.
