    Question on a mainsheet block

Not sure about that. I have a cam cleat on the centerline, on the lip of the cockpit edge cushioned by 3 layers of rubber and hermetically sealed. Works very well. No spider cracks, no pressure on the deck.

    VIDEOS!

Been following him for a while. Since I started sailing SF a year ago, his videos were a source of some good information and ideas. I am glad he is doing this.

    Question on a mainsheet block

Totally agree. When the hull of the boat is tilted and you are hiking, the "simple" lifting up of the mainsheet to release it from the cleat is not that simple and holding it out is cumbersome and not practical...

    Question on a mainsheet block

Yep, the cleat got us at the beginning of this season on Round Lake, NY. We flipped as a strong gust came over and the main sheet was cleated. However, I still did not replace the cleat with the ratchet block. I find it useful when the wind is really low as well as sailing downwind. If the winds...

Hi! I have a brand new daggerboard which I never really used. (I continue using the old one, the one that my Sunfish came with. Let me know if you are still looking for db.

The Final Hurdle - Boat Trailer

It is possible. Even with a little Ford Eco-Sport. And you have Xterra. Getting the boat on a trailer, securing the sails and spars would take us much time as topping it. Plus, the amount of money you save without a trailer. If you simply come back from the run and unhook the trailer and leave...

    Cleat replacement

I totally understand. And being a po-man myself I also tend to cherish the original. But if she accumulates water over time, gets heavier or god forbid mold inside the hull and other hardware on the deck gets loose because of that - port seems a good idea. However, the biggest "issue" I have...

Sunfish bridal or traveler or ???

Sunfish could also have a "bridal." Depends on what you use it for:)

    Cleat replacement

Your hesitation in cutting ports is understandable. I was hesitant too at first. Why cut holes in a perfect or a near-perfect hull, right? Besides, if ports were necessary they would have been integrated into the original design, right? However, I think installing ports has more advantages and...

The Final Hurdle - Boat Trailer

Unless you are transporting more than one sunfish, a trailer for a 13ft 120lbs boat seems too much. Sunfish can be car topped in more than one way. No trailer registration, no-hassle parking or turning sharp corners, no-hassle going through McDonalds drive-through on the way to the beach or lake.

    Need Boat I.D.

Sunfish is a super popular boat so rigging is not really a problem. I think Laser is the same. Shouldn't be too hard to get rigging. You can search forums also a lot of stuff is on E-bay. 50 bucks is a good price:) I would think about what would need to be done with a hull in terms of...

Any Sunfish enthusiasts in Albany, NY or close by?

Hello, I was wondering if there are any Sunfish enthusiasts in Albany, NY, or close by? I bought my first-ever Sunfish last year towards the end of the season in late September. She is an "old" pre- 70s lady but in a good shape. My girlfriend and I, we only managed to have a few trips last...
