Barrington daggerboard - which edge forward?

Thanks for the help Supercub! I'm glad to hear I had reason to be confused. I was begining to think it was just me. Now I feel comfortable tapering that rear edge. I didn't want to sand it down and find out I had the wrong side. Have a great day!

Barrington daggerboard - which edge forward?

This may sound like a stupid question to some, but nonetheless I am confused. I am refinishing a Barrington board. I am ready to taper the trailing edge. I know the dimensions I need to adhere to but I can’t figure out which side is the front and which is the aft. Doah! I thought I knew but...

    Excessively heavy old Sunfish

Maybe the extra weight is from the ant nest. If they have been in there long enough they could have drug a lot of debris in there. You would be surprised how quickly the stuff would add up. Although 40-50 lbs does sound a little high. Oh well..its just a thought.

    Mast dimensions

Look here: http://www.sunfishclass.org/admin/ISCA_Regs/isca_class_rules03012003.htm Down on page 11. That will give you the length. The I.D. is 2.00” give or take a few thousandths of an inch (.000). I can’t be precise because I measured mine with a tape measurer. I don’t know the O.D...

HOW do I clean a sail?

Thanks for the information Mike. At the risk of sounding ignorant, which I am on this subject, I have last question. Do you recommend placing anything under the sail when I lay it out to wash it? The only place I have big enough to lay out the sail, suitable for cleaning it, would be the...

HOW do I clean a sail?

So do you just put it in a tube and hand wash it? You mentioned the heat from the dryer can breakdown the resin impregnation...what about a hair dryer. The sail I bought was used and had racing numbers on it. To remove the glue left over from the numbers I warmed it with a hair dryer and...

HOW do I clean a sail?

Yes, Yes! I looked in the SF FAQ’s and saw the one on “How do I clean my sail?” The problem is it doesn’t say HOW to clean the sail. It only tells you WHAT to clean it with. I even paged through the SF Bible and searched the internet with Google. I couldn’t find anything. So...

    rudder repair advice needed

Don't use a regular steel rod such as 1040. The SF Bible says to use Brass or Stainless Steel. Less chance for corrosion problems.

    Sunfish Trailer wanted in Illinois

Here are two pics of my trailer with the modified bunks...minus the carpet. It seems to look like it will work ok. I left room on the trailer's deck, on the left side, for the mast and spar tube(8" PVC).

    Sunfish Trailer wanted in Illinois

Under the SFClass FAQ’s there is a section called “Guidelines for building a Sunfish cradle on a trailer”. Look down in the article till you find ‘Important point #1’. This is one of the two places I found that said to keep the weight off the keel. I will try to find the other, but forgive...

    Sunfish Trailer wanted in Illinois

Being a new Sunfish owner, I have done a ton of research on them this past month. I read somewhere that you should not support the Sunfish by the keel. I know the trailer shown in the link above does have bunks on it, but it looks like the rollers will be supporting the majority of the load...

Check out e-bay. There are several new and used sails for sale right now. Also supercub listed a link to a place that sells non-class legal sails in the 'Sail Dimensions?' thread. Good luck!
