Yep, that's the comfort level I was talking about. I am 6'2, and it makes it difficult for quick tacks especially when my daughter is with me. I'll have to figure out a way for the pillow placement as you speak of. Good idea!
Here is our first sail with the Porpoise. I must say that there is a huge difference in comfort levels compared to our Sunfish. Though it doesn't show, the wind was howling yesterday, and we almost dumped it a few times.
Tight lines to all.
Would love to see the photos. The part you don't see in the photo is the regatta coming our way doing about twice the speed. We had to high tail it out of there before they came bailing down on us!
Have not hit the grand waters of Lake Michigan yet. I have a lead on a Hobie that might be offered for free from a friend. He says the tramp is in working order, and the boat is complete....but for whatever reason I am partial to the Sunfish. What lake in K-zoo do you sail on?
I'm right there with you. Come on WEEKEND! I just got the Porpise in the water last night, so weather permitting, I'm planning on letting my daughter out on the water with us. I'm sure she'll try to steal our wind, but you know with age does come some wisdom. Tight lines to all!
I own a pre-1972 Sunfish. My daughter is eleven, and is having a hard time pulling up the sail, and then untying it from the cleat before she goes under the bridge. Does anyone know of an easier contraption such as maybe a quick release mechanism? You know, maybe something like when you pull up...
