My 1986 Capri 14.2 transom height is 19" (measured today!).
I'm seriously considering a Honda 4 cycle engine (2 HP) but I haven't looked into shaft length yet.

I'm in the process of making a new hatch. I posted a sketch of my original latch several months ago. If you'd like to take a look, go to the archives, #612, full version. My original latch was located center bottom of the hatch.

My Capri 14.2 is a 1986 model and is in fairly good condition..though I have a very long "to do" list for such a short boat!
I have a small storage compartment (cuddy) under the tabernacle.

Hi Mark,
I recently acquired a 1986 Capri 14.2 and the Cuddy Hatch Door needs to be replaced. It looks like I will have to ruin the latch in order to replace the door so I've looked into what I'll need to put it all back together. I'll try to attach a sketch of mine in case yours is similar...
