    Sunfish Covers Make Your Own

Would you recommend two sail/spar bags from Slo? One made from Sunbrella for storage and one made from polyester or TopGun for trailering? Ed

newbie needs help with sail storage

If I am leaving the boat close to the shore overnight, I have always wound a line around the sail (halyard or mainsheet) and placed the dagger board on top of it. Sometimes we get very high tides so I might even tie a line from something secure on land to the bow handle. L&VW is right, if...

    New Ice Blue

I'll tinker with my setup. Part of the fun of sailing is playing with your boat "in port". Thanks for sharing the video!

Question for the engineering types—stress on a block

It looks like you already have the block. So, I think you should install it and see if you like it. I have sailed with the hook, a ratcheting block, a ratcheting block with a cam, and two different swivel blocks. My preference is the swivel block.

Question for the engineering types—stress on a block

Here is a picture of my recently installed block. I used the existing strap eye. So, my guess is that this is the orientation you should use.

Sail clips popping off - anyone have a solution?

I have a new Sunfish and two of the sail clips un clipped yesterday. It was my second outing on the new boat and the boom end cap/outhaul broke. So I attributed the rings coming off to that because the sail was flapping around. But perhaps the rings are just lame. I believe you can use line...

    New Ice Blue

Went for my second sail on the new boat yesterday. My dad sailed his older sunfish. Several years ago, his neighbor was throwing the hull away. So, my dad offered to take the boat. The guy had some parts but it needed a bunch of stuff so I bought a mast, spars, sail, rudder, and dagger...

    New Ice Blue

Thanks for the advice! I put a plastic cap on the bolt with some silicone. We’ll see if that can protect the deck. I’ll use some line for sheet hangers. Ed

    New Ice Blue

Inspired by norcalsail, I got a new Harken mainsheet block similar to the one it came with. I thought about switching the cam so that it un-cleats the other way. But I grew up sailing catamarans and the mainsheet blocks on those are oriented the same way this one is. So, I decided to leave...

Thanks for the tip. Wouldn’t want to bust a gasket. This is under the mainsheet block:

Recommend Trolling Electric Motor For 20ft Sailboat

I have a precision 15 sailboat and use a minn Kota riptide 45lbs thrust. The motor is ok under calm conditions. Any real wind or waves and it barely gets the job done.

    Breaking auto-bailer during beach launch?

Ha ha using the cup is a tradition in my family. It is standard gear for the boat.

    Breaking auto-bailer during beach launch?

I wish someone would make a plug you could put in the hole that the bailer assembly goes through. Not the plug for the bailer but a plug to replace the bailer. It just seems like a matter of time before the bailer is damaged. Besides, I have sailed a couple sunfish and neither had working...
