    Hoisting points/harness

Definitely NOT what they were designed for. If it were me, I'd go with belts under the hull. Could sew together old seat belts making loops with lifting eyes. OR use 12' ratcheting tie down straps.

New Sunfish owner ... looking for a few pointers

I lucked out and got the Intensity Red/White/Blue on sale for $99 plus shipping three years ago. It was not supposed to have the fish on it (part of the reason for the lower price), but when it came, it did. Though expecting some higher performance, I did not notice a big difference between the...

    Latest Pick pre-‘71 Fish

I concur with '70 or earlier. Mine looks the same but has the stowage compartment space added in '70-'71. Mine does NOT have an HIN so that dates it to pre November 1972.

    Moving "up"??

Pulled the trigger this afternoon. Widgeon. In better shape than the Puffer and from all my research I believe I will be happier with it. The Sunfish is NOT for sale...….. yet.

    Moving "up"??

Thanks Eddie_E. None of them are for sale near me or my budget. I have to choose between the Puffer or the Widgeon. Living in NH one item in consideration is that boats under 13' do not need the $45/yr. registration.

    Moving "up"??

A small part of the consideration is that a boat you sit in rather than on, with a much higher freeboard, should help keep me from capsizing. I have gone over in mid to heavy wind 4x in five seasons. 2x with the mainsheet in the jam cleat (THAT won't happen again). Doubt this fat boy could get...

    Moving "up"??

Looks like Puffer uses a Sunfish dagger board and tiller/rudder assembly. Widgeon has a swing centerboard that pulls up into the trunk. One less thing to deal with (stow) at mooring.

    Moving "up"??

Thanks for the reply. Choice is between a 1975 Widgeon and a 1982 Puffer. Both very near me. Both with trailers. Puffer has transom mount for a light motor (I have a MinnKota) and it also has holes for row locks. Puffer does not have anywhere for dry storage while moored. I'm leaning towards the...

    Moving "up"??

If you were going to "move up" from a Sunfish to a sailboat you sit in rather than on (one more suitable for two full size adults) which would you choose and why?? AMF Puffer or O'day Widgeon??

What's at the bottom of the Mast Hole?

So in flipping my fish for storage for the winter I actually looked down the mast hole. Couldn't see much so I used my iPhone camera to illuminate and zoom in on what's at the bottom. Looking at the photos blown up on my monitor I see it appears stepped. Anybody know why or what for??

First Sail of the 2017 Season

I did have the name and number for a guy up in North Sandwich, NH who has a barn full of old fish parts. Let me try to find it.
