    Laser regatta in Texas

Hi Laser sailors, We have a one design regatta coming up at HYC, and we are trying to get a laser fleet together for it. The dates are September 25-26. I will upload the NOR soon. Here is the catch, we have 3-4 of us at HYC that are interested in sailing the regatta in Lasers. The...

    Capsize Recovery

As the boat goes over, try to jump over the top and land on the dagger board. It makes for a much quicker recovery. Also, when the boat comes back up, try and step back in. If done correctly, you won't get wet!

    Separate starts by class?

Separate start seems much better to me. If I was in a full rig and starting with radials, I would fight real hard to start above a radial. It would be a nice way to get an acceleration hole right after the start. Although, if it is just a fun race, then it might be good practice for the...

    Outhaul rigging

Hi all, I am new to the laser and am currently upgrading an old boat.. Through research on this forum, I have found many different ways to rig the new style outhaul. It seems like more sailors are opting to rig a cascade system on the end of the boom by cow hitching the second control...

    Fixing up an older boat

Thanks for your reply. I have not had the boat in the water yet, so I am not sure how dry it is. I have attached a pic of the mast step taken from the existing inspection port. I don't know lasers very well, so I am unsure if it is worth installing another port to get a better look, or if...

    Fixing up an older boat

Hi Everyone, I have recently acquired a 14000 series boat that had the unfortunate experience of riding out a hurricane. For the most part, the boat seems to be in good condition except for two small problems. 1. There are some well defined spider cracks where the centerboard trunk meets...
