Brilliant!! The first time we turtled, I almost lost the daggerboard. Not interested in having that experience again with my little geriatric, non-swimmer, dog who thinks he is paddling for his life, even though he is wearing a life jacket. :) Not to mention the water was 52 degrees at the time...
Absolutely! I have been doing a lot of research on rigging options. Thank you. I questioned trying out the original sail, which I still have, to see if it was any better, but I'm afraid it would shred into a million bits. It is super soft and thin, kind of like a bedsheet after over 40 years.
Yes, I did. I saw that you mentioned APS on your blog. A simple recreation sail may be enough of a reduction for my purpose. I'll take a look at the minifish sail.
Ahh, okay. I have a race cut practice APS sail, do you happen to know anything about those? Are they the same dimensions as the class legal race cut? Since they are out of business, I'm having trouble finding any info. If I wanted a slightly less drafty sail for gusty mountain lake sailing do...
So, I have a white race cut sail from Intensity Sails and I'm looking for ways to de-power this sail. I know, I know, what?! Currently, I'm sailing in Colorado with my dog in mostly gusty conditions. When I have him with me we need to stay in the boat and I'm finding myself getting a little over...
Pryde is listing its colored sails at 83.6 sq feet with slightly longer luff, leech and foot. Sunfish Direct colorful class legal sails are 75 sq ft. So it would seem that the Pryde sails offer a little more performance than the standard class legal...Yes?
I was hoping to buy one for my next outing but I think it would be wise to get some measurements and make a more educated estimate on the length that will work for me...
The more I read, the more questions I have...Can anyone give me some definitive rigging measurements of where to attach the main halyard on the upper boom? Between sail rings 9 and 10 is what I've deducted from reading; assuming 9 for lighter winds, 10 for stronger. I'm just looking for a few...
I'm looking to add a universal extension to my '78 Sunfish tiller. Does anyone have a suggestion on the length? There are multiple lengths 30"- 48", some sites recommend 42" for Sunfish but that seems way too long to me...
