    70's laser deck 'soft' spots

Wow fox, you cut the deck off?!! I don't think I am up for that big of a repair job, at least not this year, but I would LOVE to see pictures if you have any. You just took the whole thing off, fixed the core and put it back on again? Did you use West System epoxy for the repair? How'd you get...

    70's laser deck 'soft' spots

So how bad is it to have these soft spots? I mean they aren't REALLY soft. I couldn't even see them without the light shining acoss the deck. Not sure I could find them all without recreating that lighting situation. That said, there were a fair amount of them. It is worth it to go through...

    70's laser deck 'soft' spots

I finally got my old beater 70's laser wet today!!! Good news is, I haven't forgotten how to sail after many years landlocked. Bad news is, when I came back home and parked the laser, I noticed some slightly raised spots on the deck in the raking light from my headlights. When I inspected...

    anyone tried Zhik Barefoot Boots?

These look interesting. http://www.apsltd.com/Tree/d111000/e109748.asp# I am not much for sailing with shoes, but I am not sure my old dogs can handle hiking out barefoot any more. Interested to hear feedback on them. Anyone, anyone, Beuller? s.

How do I mend this deck?

Do you think the standard mast step patch will cover both the inspection port and the mast step? That might be a better/cleaner (but more expensive) way to go. I have one on my 70's laser and it is very solid. Scroll down and you will see the patch: http://www.apsltd.com/Tree/d90000/e88560.asp

How to make a laser deck white again!

I'd definitely be careful with the bleach. I once used a cleanser with bleach on my "big boat" decks and apparently didn't get it all off in the rinse. It left some areas lighter than others.

    attaching hiking strap

Oh, I think I've got it now. The photo that Geoff posted was really clear. Thanks!

    attaching hiking strap

Okay, so I am brand new to Lasers and I have never rigged one. I think I've got enough info to rig everything but the dang hiking strap. I have seen a couple of pictures, but I really can't figure out how the shock cord and line attach to the boat. I am assuming that the shock cord is to keep...

deck pulling away from mast step repair patch

Geoff, I did use the screws. I needed them to pull the deck and patch together. I will be unscrewing them tonight and checking the repair. I am so excited. It has been difficult waiting for a full week. Hopefully it is sound. And thanks again for your input. s.

deck pulling away from mast step repair patch

Well, too late. I made the repair using 5200 this past weekend. Thanks everyone for your input. Hopefully it will work out okay. I'll keep you all posted if I encounter any problems with the repair. Thanks again, Susan

deck pulling away from mast step repair patch

So what are the benefits of using West Systems epoxy over the 3M 5200 adhesive?

deck pulling away from mast step repair patch

I just acquired an old laser that already had the mast step repair done. Most of it looks great except for about a 4" section close to center aft. It is no longer bonded to the patch and gives when I push on it. Does anyone have any sugesstions on how to repair it? A guy at Layline suggested...

New/old Laser owner with a roof rack question

I have seen that one can put a laser on roof racks, but how does one manage to get it up there and off of there without killing oneself? I am a 40ish woman who will be sailing alone. I like the idea of no trailer, but I can't seem to figure out the logistics of the roof rack thang. Is there...
