New owner - are hiking straps a must?

I finally ordered the hiking straps, but I'm not sure how to attach them. I've tried searching the internet for information about how the straps attach and can't find anything. The loops on the two forward straps must attach to the bails on the barney post. There are two small stainless steel...

    Capri 14.2 Jacket Patch

When I bought a new Catalina 22 in the mid-80's, I received a couple of jacket patches. They are miniature versions of the insignia on the sails and other places. Is there a Capri 14.2 jacket patch available anywhere?

Thanks, Doug. I really didn't want to start drilling holes in the transom. The motor on my Catalina 22 had a cable that attached to the motor mount "just in case" so I'll come up with something similar for this trolling motor. I bought a 24DC marine battery last night...just hope the weight...

    New Guy

WaterDawg - I bought a Minnkota trolling motor and would like to use it this weekend. However, I'm still not sure about how to mount it. You mounted a pad on the outside of the transom, but the clamps are inside the boat and would appear to need a pad to avoid damaging the transom. Did you...

That's great news because I've been looking at trolling motors. I didn't want the expense or weight of a gas motor. Thanks for the tip. My main concern initially was to get the boat in the water. I'll loosen the shrouds a bit and see if that helps. Larry

"and I'll be adding an electric trolling motor instead that I can store under the nose when not in use, but have available when I need it " Larry - I took my "new" C14.2 for its maiden voyage yesterday and learned that it doesn't point up very well...at least not what I was accustomed to with...

New owner - are hiking straps a must?

Thanks for the quick reply and the tips, Greg. Looks like I'd better round up hiking straps now instead of next year. My sailing season is much shorter than yours. I'd enjoy sailing with you, but I live in Indiana. One of my brothers lives in Laguna Beach, so there's always a chance if I...

New owner - are hiking straps a must?

I owned a Catalina 22 for 8 years but have been out of sailing for at least that long. After retiring recently I wanted to find a smaller, simpler sailboat and bought a Capri 14.2. It doesn't have hiking straps and I haven't been too concerned since, at 66, I don't plan to push the boat to the...
