I would bet that the probably wouldn't based on the fact that you would be wearing them for a couple of hours normally and the amount of time they would just be sitting at home waiting to be worn would be far higher. So in this time I would think that they would shrink back. I have Zhik hikers...
Have a good set of telltales (especially have a telltale up in the top third of the sail) and a wind-indicator so you can really tell where the wind is from. Go out on a light/medium wind (8 knots ish) with steady wind that's not shifty. Bear away onto a dead run and get settled, make sure you...
The Gul CZ Windward boots are really good. They give really good grip on the deck and the toe strap, they are quite warm and really comfortable. I have used them ever since they first came out and they have never worn out. I would really recommend these. I haven't found that any toe straps work...
One point worth mentioning is that although you could point a laser super high, if you wanted. It would feel like you were making loads of ground to the windward mark, if you were in powerboat 100m back down the beat; you would see that the boat would be slipping so far downwind due to leeway...
I had some old 6mm mainsheet that I used. It was a pain in the butt to thread through but was definitely worth it as all other ropes I tried slipped, normally at the crucial moment :P
A question that has been rattling around the club is this: can a Finn pump in a handicap race. I think that its okay for a Finn to pump in handicap race as long as it does within the Finn class rules. I'm not really sure of the justification that the other sailors have that Finns cannot pump...
Well worth it, I use Zhik microfleece skiff suit most of the time with the powerpads. They are amazing and suit most conditions. I know they are expensive but they are really worth it. If you don't feel like stumpingm then maybe buy the powerpads, or cheaper still get the Neilpryde Elite...
I sail on a really shifty lake with gusts frequent and strong. Normally I set the outhaul and downhaul for the lulls, I then set the vang so there is a slight droop most of the time. When small gusts roll through I squeeze the blocks together and hike out (with a tighter than normal strap so...
I posted a while ago about the same topic but I don't think I explained myself that well (not surprising..) and I have had another dispute at my club about it. For clarification, is boat A or B the windward boat and can the force the other boat further by the lee, can the force them to go so far...
I sail a Radial (unless really quiet) on a really shifty little lake. If I am sailing in an average wind of about 15 knots, where I can have the boat fully powered up and lots of 20+ knot gusts blow through for 30 seconds or so all the time, how should I set the boat up? Should I set the Outhaul...
