    Motor or No Motor

I clamped my motor down to where it never pivots and it always straight ahead, that way when I start it I just use the boat rudder to guide the boat. I don't see any reason for the motor to pivot. Plenty of those little motors around, people never get rid of them and it doesn't take much work to...

    Motor or No Motor

I used to sail a lot on Smith Mountain lake Virginia. One time a storm came up and we went into a cove. After the storm the way out of the cove was the wind in our face and not enough room to tack. I paddled until I nearly flipping died and to no avail. We spent several hours in that cove and...

All I need is a hitch

I don't have time now but sometime soon I will some of the other stuff I have homemade for the boat. I went kind of nuts there for a while.

All I need is a hitch

I was just downstairs looking at something else and grabbed the camera. This is the mount I made and the old motor I used. The motor is old but simple and very faithful. It was made long before recoil starters, so I have to carry the starter rope with a knot in it in my life jacket pocket...

All I need is a hitch

Sorry, I don't have a good picture of the mount for the motor on the boat. I made the mount myself with some aluminum and a tig welder. I didn't want an electric motor with the battery to deal with and a sure as heck didn't want an motor mounted right to the stern and interfering with the...

    Replacement Hiking Straps

I just used some sail twine and some old seat belts out of a junker car.

    Hey everyone

No place to to take it. I am quite a ways from any decent lake. I used to tow her about 250 miles to a lake in VA that my inlaws had and they sold the place. Now my brother has a place down at Lake Hartwell and I hope I can sail her there.

    inspection port for capri/omega

I would say, ask yourself this one question. If you dig cut a hole in there and find out the worst, what would you do about it? More than likely you got jugs of air under the benches like my capri14. You might call the manufacturer and find out for sure before cutting a hole. Hey, I just...

All I need is a hitch

Wow, I usually tow my capri 14 with a 4 cylinder ranger pickup truck and get about 25mpg. That boat and trailer are feather light and very aerodynamic.

Curious, what does an Omega14 look like? Is there no cuddy section on it?

    Ladder

See that top is just as far down on the inside as the outside, so it fits snug on the stern and the bottom piece has rubber on it so it don't scratch the gelcoat. The only way that ladder can come off is by sliding up and if you look careful you can see a small plastic screw in that top peice...

    Ladder

I think 3 pounds or so, all aluminum.

    inspection port for capri/omega

How much is a lot? a couple gallons? 5 gallons? 20 gallons? Here is what I found with my model 3 Capri 14.2. I was sailing a lot back then because my inlaws had a place on the lake and we would spend weeks at a time on the lake. Somedays I would get a little water in the bilge and somedays...

Attaching outboard motor mount / swim ladder

I don't think it would be a problem at all. If you look at my thread about my home made ladder, you can see the picture on all 210 pounds of me hanging off the ladder while the boat is on the trailer. I don't think you are going to get much more force than that on the stern, not matter what you...
