Do you sail in salt water or lake sailing as this seems to make the difference. I sail in salt water and the thing clogged with salt regardless of spraying it with lube. The best thing i have done is binning it for the rooster strap and hook, my sailing is blissfull now!! :)

Dont worry, i am sure there are plenty of other inferior laser products to create a saga about. Seriously though, the rooster clew strap and hook is the way to go, even tho it is a tad more awkward to set up it wins with functionality, and you can rely on it working and not stick like the clew...

I'm only kiddin, i wouldnt sell this thing to anyone. I have just cut it in half and used it as mudguard stays for my TL125 trials bike by wrapping it round each fork leg! No i aint kiddin about that, works better than its original intended use! :)

This is the system i use and it works really well. Also you can leave everything on the boom and unless you are a world class sailor the wieght of a couple of tiny blocks and a bit of rope are not going to make a whole lot of difference, even with a gybe i dont think the momentum of the combined...

Are you sure you dont want to upgrade from your bit of rope clew strap to a nice shiny clew sleeve that dont work. :) Don't think these boys know what trade means!? :confused:

Dont even think about buying it! I have an old laser with sail number 8249! and it is completely sound and firm in this area. There are plenty good boats to choose from so dont waste your money. . R.

Also it will depend what kind of sailing you are doing, if its salt water you sail in like i do they seem to jam and if its puddle sailing they dont so it must be something to do with the salt air. R.
