That in itself may give you a date range, as in there were no serial numbers before X date. There is a sunfish timeline in here somewhere that goes over serial numbers that seems to apply to both sunfish and sailfish, that may help.

So finally got the boat on the water and a couple of things stood out. 1. It seems to be water tight, no leaks. 2. It works great as a paddle board and swim platform for the kids. 3. Not very useful as a sailboat if there is no wind!

Thanks, I had seen the serial numbers in the sunfish timeline, but hadn't seen where there was a fiberglass boat in '57, so I thought maybe those serial numbers were sunfish only. Just bought a new sail from Neil Pryde, going to try to get it on the water on Monday.

I found a serial number on the deck plate of the rudder assembly 1222. Here are some pics of the boat.
