    Sunfish Boat Cover

Hi Helme1el fellow former Marylander here (grew up there)....I must have one of those covers in the maroon color. It came with the fish I bought in August and is a really nice heavy duty Cordura-like material. I would recommend it. Seems waterproof for the most part - water always pools in...

    Trailer: Flat tire

Spray some PB Blaster or liquid wrench on the lug and nuts repeatedly and let it do it's job awhile (minutes, hours, etc.) and they may come loose. I just went thru this on a boat/trailer I just bought although I didn't wait for a flat to test my luck. The trailer was used in saltwater and I...

    How to transport a sunfish

All good points above w/good advice. I've been thru the repair mill w/trailers for my current jon boat and previous center console fishing boat which are all stored outside w/covers. Here's a good tip if you have this problem. My major problem was wood rats infesting the boats and chewing up...

    New Sunfish owner questions

Thanks for the info and story signal charlie. I had a fiberglass boat repair specialist (over 30-yrs experience) take a look at it & feel forward inside the inspection hatch and he said if it was his he would just apply a small topside 3M 5200 over the area and use it. He thought it felt solid...

    New Sunfish owner questions

Thanks signal charlie! Great video & suggestions. I'm picking up all kinds of valuable knowledge and pointers here on the forum. There is already a faded, half peeling off name on the back, "LA KAU" straddling the tiller. I think perhaps the previous owner was Hawaiian?

    New Sunfish owner questions

"Two options for the sail - lower the halyard attachment to the upper boom (slide it closer to the tack of the sail), this will raise the sail." Is the upper boom basically the mast? I need to raise the sail so my wife can enjoy the ride too. This racing setup isn't going to go far w/2...

    Repair advice needed

Pardon the newbie inquiry and don't mean to de-rail the thread but just how do you air leak test a hull when there is a breather hole under the cockpit front lip? Cover it up? My '77 has the breather hole - I never knew of such a thing till I saw it on a youtube repair video I believe it was...

    New Sunfish owner questions

Hey there "tag" what size bit did you use to drill pilot holes for #10 sheet metal screws in mast for horn cleat? 1/8" or 9/64" or ? The olde adage measure twice cut once comes to mind. Thanks in advance!
