Water Flowing Up Through Centerboard Trunk while sailing

Thanks for the input but beach launching a boat in heavy wind and waves is difficult enough without a dolly... dealing with another large floating object in crashing waves and heavy wind while trying to control a laser isnt really practical. If you're in chest deep water in 20knts of wind with...

Water Flowing Up Through Centerboard Trunk while sailing

Sounds like a great idea when there's no wind... I could see this becoming very difficult in 15+ knts of wind. The other issue is why pay ~$300 for a dolly when the boat only cost me $350 and a little glassing could fix the prob.

Water Flowing Up Through Centerboard Trunk while sailing

Thanks for the responses. . . I dont care about class stuff... The boat lives on a beach in Long island sound (6-8 ft tide) and I often sail alone, so unfortunately dragging the boat is the only way to launch it. I actually have another one on order but the problem is that the leading edge of...

Water Flowing Up Through Centerboard Trunk while sailing

Any tips for best way to reduce water flowing up through the centerboard trunk and filling the cock pit? I beach launch the boat and dragging along beach has destroyed the auto bailer so I removed it but now it doesnt work unless you're going really fast so just opening the bailer doesnt work...

    Laser 2 Solo Best Advice

So I've spent the summer solo trappin' on my new old laser 2. I was wondering what types of tips/tricks folks have for sailing solo on the trap (with both sails up of course). Recently I was told to tie my jib sheets to the trap rings so I can have access to the jib sheet while trapping... I'm...

Laser II vs Laser vs Sunfish

Now that is strange... how could a laser be faster then a Laser 2 with less surface area of hull and less sail area? Now I'm confused as to how that could be. Also I would think Soloing a small boat is clearly faster then double handed weight wise.

Laser II vs Laser vs Sunfish

Interesting... and THANKS for the great response! So using the modification table (Table VI) there were two Alpha codes in there that corresponded to A: Class normally with spinnaker, not equiped and, B: Solo sailing 2 person sloop under full sail. I was thinking those two factors applied would...

Laser II vs Laser vs Sunfish

I am reading the website on the How to Use section (http://www.ussailing.org/racing/offshore-big-boats/portsmouth-yardstick/how-to-use-portsmouth-numbers/) and maybe I'm not reading this clearly but there's all these variables and yet there is not formula showing how they relate... like the MF...

Laser II vs Laser vs Sunfish

I sail my Laser 2 out in Long Island Sound off a small island and there are typically other folks out and about to sail with/against. Every now and then we race around the island or some point or another. I'm sailing the Laser 2 solo (usually trapping) without a spinnaker and i'm wondering if...
