    Separating upper and lower mast

This is the way to do it. A picnic table is perfect for this.

how to use the double row digits on Silva 103 Racing Elite

On a single row (0-20) compass if you are on a 12 on one tack, you should be on a 2 on the other tack if your boat's performance matches the compass design. I thought the point of the double row was that if you were sailing a 12 on the green row on starboard, when you tack you should be on a 12...

    Keeping the daggerboard down

Things that help (in order of effectiveness in my experience) 1. Put a small peice of velcro (loop side) in the front of the daggerboard trunk, as per the class rule change allowing htis last year. Also prevents wear 2. Concentrate of keeping the flow constant on the board. It pops up when the...

    Squeaking rudder

It is most likely to be the tiller rubbing on the transom with a tight traveller. Try either replacing the gudgeons (rudder mounts) with new, unworn ones, or insert a washer between the rudder pin and the gudgeon to raise the whole rudder assembly slightly (purists will say this is sub optimal...

    small car... car top rack??

I would have thought that hitting a wave badly was far more traumatic to the hull than car topping. Sailing is going to wear your boat out. Car topping allows you to wear it out in more interesting places! To any small car owning Laser sailors: PLEASE don't let the info in this thread put you...

    small car... car top rack??

Agreed. Car-topping is often made to sound overly complicated. It isn't. Tie your boat to the top of your car, use a little common sense, and the world is your oyster. This was the design intent of the Laser.

    Most used Sailing Watch??

Ronstan = Optimum Time, except one is yellow and the other is blue. I beleive Ronstan 'badge label' the Optimum time device. Oh yeah, and the huge price difference...... >$100 in the US/ Canada versus ~40UKP in England

    How to transport a laser???

More pictures of boats on cars.... http://sailingforums.com/threads/trailer-vs-roof-rack.17296/page-2#post-88155 Just use a little common sense, and and car-topping is fine. Sure, a trailer is nice (I have one) but a roofrack is WAY cheaper for occasional use, easier to store, doesn't suffer...

    tyvek deck cover

I somewhat disagree. The first time I've seen these in the flesh is at the Laser Training Centre in Cabarete. I was quite impressed with them - they obviously stand up excellently to UV and wind, given the conditions there. They are a little baggy, so water will pool in the cockpit, but I'd...

    Gelcoat colour match

Call Laser Perfromance UK. They recently switched from vela grey to dawn grey, but I'm not certain when. My UK boat was a 189xxx and vela grey was a perfect match (shipped from Laser Performance UK). Phone: 01327 841600 Email: [email protected]

Flying with a tiller + extension

Buy a sewage pipe (4" diameter) Cut it down to ~50" Duct tape over the ends. Make a handle out of tape for them to affix the bag tag to. Check as a normal peice of luggage (it will come out on the 'oversize carousel' though, with the skis and surf boards etc.) I'm on the way back from a training...

    Class Politics 2011 championships

Anyone have any insight as to what this means? (from http://events.laserinternational.org/en/events/overview/100z62): World Laser Masters Championship 2011 Fri 5th August 2011 - Sat 13th August 2011 USA, San Francisco THE OPENING OF THE APPLICATION FOR ENTRY IS DELAYED UNTIL WE...

Class Politics Introducing the New Official Class Sail

You may not be aware that we ship world wide and a large number of sails into the UK specifically. We are shipping individual sails globally at a cost effective postage cost on a daily basis. I used an Intensity sail for club events through 2010 in the UK, and was constantly asked what it...

Class Politics Introducing the New Official Class Sail

I think it would be an advantage to this proposal if all the replica sellers (Intensity in the US, iSails and Rooster in the UK, etc) DID use the same Chinese loft - we'd then effectively have several regional distributors for the same product. It allows this discussion to scale globally...
