Sold my SJ21 six months ago. Bought new sails every year. Have Waters Sails mainsail in excellent condition ($500), jib in like-new condition and used only one weekend ($500) and spinnaker ($600) used only one weekend. Can contact me on this site or on email. [email protected]
I've got a 2013. Did not know until NOW that when I removed Bow-End of existing hiking strap, which is at least two inches WIDER than the plate, above, that the "correct" strap is more narrow and can simply slide onto the plate with the two screw holes being OUTSIDE of the width of the new...
Thanks for photo - that is for the Stern-End. I fashioned my "new" hiking strap to imitate David's, in the photo, but simply installed two grommets instead of attaching a hiking strap addition. My question is about the Bow-End of that same strap - how are racers attaching the bow-end of the...
Still a newbie - 15 months "in" class. Determined, with your help, that any hiking strap is legal. Even one that has a beer holder. Today installed two grommets on Stern-End of of hiking strap. Any experience, suggestions on removing Bow-End of hiking strap and installing Bow-End of new...
Agreed, but it would be nice to be "legal" before a WQ begins so that I don't get thrown out. lol And with my current strap, max tight still allows the strap to rise twelve inches above the cockpit floor. Yikes! Thanks for the input.
Will do. I'll ask John Butine about it - I understand that he will be the measurer. Will bring an extra "non-modified" hiking strap with me - meaning the original in which I have not installed two grommets into one end of the hiking strap loop.
Thanks for the input, Hilulover. I've already ordered a white strap - I live in Charleston and another color would likely "heat up" so much that I'd burn my tootsies when I hike. ha I plan to put two grommets in the aft strap to rig like David Loring's in the YouTube video.
Still new to class - 15 months in. Preparing for NAs next week in Charleston. I've read the class rules numerous times, but cannot discern whether "just any old" hiking strap will meet class rules. For the deck and hull, the rules state that we can use only approved fittings, etc. Easy...
Yes, very weird - that is why I wrote the original question, above. lol. I've got a 2013 boat with 2013 daggerboard. But I will contact them regardless. Thanks. Anyone else who has run into this issue, please let me know if you drilled the hole, etc. ???
Thanks for the reply Beldar. The new style daggerboard that I have has a circular "impression" in the top aft of the centerboard, but no "through" hole. Has anyone on here drilled through that circular impression to attach a line handle through the hole? And, if so, is the circular impression...
I'm still new to the class - 14 months. North Americans next week here in Charleston. The "older" style daggerboard has a through-handhold and can be easily grabbed. The new style daggerboard does not have "thought the board" handhold. I noticed in some of the YouTube videos, e.g., Paul...
I'm still new to the class, 14 months in. I could swear that I've read that a bailer and that a paddle is required onboard equipment for a WQ event such as the North Americans. Cannot find answers in the Class Rules, so maybe I read that in an SI for last year's World Masters? Are these...
