Hello Sunfish people,
Wind and waves got the better of me this weekend, drove my mast and upper boom into Mississippi mud, and after a friendly rescue, my lovely little fish has a bent upper boom. Please send your best tips for straightening a bent spar....or point me to the correct resource...
Hi folks--this is a long shot, but here goes. Does anyone know of Sunfish rental outlets in the Destin, Florida area? Heading to the beach, don't feel like trailering mine, and having no luck online. (Of course a championships boat from this week in nearby Fort Walton wouldn't be bad, but a...
I have the new rolled edge hull and here is my petit gripe--I wish they had finished or protected the edge to make it less susceptible to chips---very easy to chip it on just about anything. Any suggestions (other than a split garden hose) for protecting it, folks? Gratefully, Fun Fish
That's it..portable, floating oiled pelican cleaning station with Dawn liquid dispenser in the mast step..
I think an old fish would make a great coffee table or dining room table under glass.
Hi Sunfish people,
The sun has finally come out in the south and it's back to the water--hooray! I have a universal joint question....is this something folks recommend replacing regularly or only when it starts looking very sketchy (and stretchy and torn up)? Thanks in advance! Gratefully...
Thanks for the suggestions!
I am in brackish water and while I do hose her down after every sail, I probably don't get as good and close up with those rudder parts as I should. I'll give those suggestions a try! Gratefully, Fun Fish (and of course, Go Saints)
Hi folks,
Put the fish in the water for the first sail of 2010 yesterday--hooray, summer's coming!
I have a recent model rudder assembly. When I went to place the rudder, my pintle was a little sticky--I couldn't pop it down at first and then when I was ready to pop it back up in the gudgeon...
Looking forward to checking the site and I'll second the request for tips on tell tales as well as wind indicators. Thanks for the opportunity to learn from the best!
I'll echo 73Sunfish's positive experience with West Coast Sailing. After emailing three Laser Performance dealers (unsuccessfully) to locate a bow tie down for my Seitech dolly, I gave them a call today. Incredibly friendly and helpful, and free shipping is standard. I love supporting local...
Hi Folks,
I have a Seitech dolly and love it. I pull it to the beach and launch with ease. My only problem is with the bow occasionally jumping off of its fitting when I cross bumpy terrain or struggle up a slope. It often comes back down and hits the C-shaped fitting. I have a chip or two...
Thanks to all of you who helped me earlier in the summer with suggestions about how to keep mice from meeting their watery demise in my mast step. The latest development is that a furry friend extricated him or herself from a glue trap and then got stuck on my mast. Fortunately, he extricated...
I suggest taking the plunge (purposely capsizing and righting the boat til you are comfortable with this) and then taking the plunge and heading to that bigger lake. You may have variable wind conditions and more wave action to deal with on a bigger patch of water, but once you've got a handle...
They are marvelous little boats, aren't they? Even with all of the back & forths on which rig or equipment is better or faster, etc., sometimes I just marvel at how much fun you can have with such a simple set-up--feel like I am "getting away with something" it's so easy to enjoy!
