    Reinforce mast step or not?

While you wait for the mast step repair to dry, end to end your top section (whether is bent or not). We sail pretty much every week end at RYC; come on by and join us. E

    Mainsheet recommendations

Yellow rooster is really good. Not sure why you're replacing it so often. Mine will go at least 100 sailing days and really do not see much deterioration. Will kink more when old but really still less "kinky" than most other mainsheets I tried. E

    difficulty in spotting approaching gusts

I wish... Still, I only use sunglasses in the winter when it's light and the sun is lower. Maybe that's why I don't see the shifts.... E

    difficulty in spotting approaching gusts

Sunglasses are useful only in light winds, when they don't get wet. E

    I'm a laser owner... Again.

Doesn't matter if it's bent. End to end it anyway, especially if you have two rivets at the collar (2' in the video) E

    Gel coat repairs

I recommend you ignore this and flip your top section instead. Then go sailing. E

Do flip your top section before you go sailing, especially if the collar has two rivets. Flip it and use one rivet only. E

Looks awesome! Plenty competitive. Get a new (replica) sail, flip your top section and join your local fleet. You'll have the time of your life! E

    Jotag Dolly from Intensity Sails

I had lost a part on a 7 years old Jotag dolly and asked Intensity whether they had a replacement. In less than a week I received the replacement part directly from Argentina, free of charge. Above and beyond! E

Broken but repaired upper mast section

If I were you I would consider returning the new alu mast and buying a plastic one. It's more expensive but it will probably be the last top mast you'll ever buy. The alu mast will eventually fail and rip your sail in the process. In the meantime, used the fixed old mast or borrow one from...

Broken but repaired upper mast section

Is the new mast you bought plastic? The repaired one will work just fine and you should keep it "just in case" or use it for practice. It won't break where it was repaired. You can also make a boom. Definitely don't junk it. E

Rebuilt Laser finally in water - Concerns about wear and tear

Chances are your gudgeons are worn out and you have play in your rudder. Change the gudgeons and your tiller won't hit the cleat anymore. E
