    Cars that can trailer Lasers

Man, i drive my laser on the roof in a small Lancia 1.1 L When kids my dad used to drive the whole family fleet of four optimist in a trolley driven by a citroen GS break also with a 1.2 L little engine. In many ways, we, westerners, are very spoiled. It is just a matter of pushing the engine...

How do you pay for your laser, and gear?

I built a web site for my brother late last year (www.fernandoechavarri.com). As a gift, i got a brand new Laser sail in Christmas :)

    possible new rig?

Just wondering: 1. what's the sail area? 2. ok it looks cool reaching, but what about going upwind? 3. same spars? 4. looks like a expensive solution, we are paying 700 euros here in europe for a crappy sail, that would be way too expensive. 5. Somehow, it doesn't look like a laser. Still...

    My olympic campaign web site

Hi guys, I'm a macnn member since 2001. Finally I decided to edit a web site/blog, etc, to promote my olympic campaign for Beijing 2008. The good news is that i already classified to compete in the Tornado catamaran. I just wanted to share and ask for any input you guys may provide. I plan...

Even the Laser is not immune

wow, mistake on my part, I certainly consider the Lasers athletic. I know Finns are too, but more on a heavy sailor kind of way (I would like to see how easily 100+ kg guys can lift their own weight), but Ynglings? no way. 470s so-so, Stars? well Scheidt is gonna bring the level up. But...

Even the Laser is not immune

Nice opinions, really thoughtful opinions. Regarding olympic sailing, I agree that it is slowing down, but I think a large impact is due to western life which is becoming too lazy. Who wants to be cold, tired and miserable when you could be in front of you 50" something screen TV watching...

Even the Laser is not immune

There are still sharpies here in the netherlands, they sail beautifully upwind in light conditions and flat waters, perfect for the kind of lakes they have around here. Regarding HECS comments, I have my doubts. When I see Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikonen, etc driving F1 Ferraris...

Even the Laser is not immune

I do not know about that concept of switching boats yearly, it would be extremely expensive and dissatisfactory, because which one would be used in the olympics? All of them? weird. Better everybody figures out for the most adequate boat, and go for a 4 years olympic campaign, as it is the case...

Even the Laser is not immune

49er are a step forward, you may not see that many, but because these are boats for highly qualified sailors. Not everybody can sail them, as easy as that. Very competitive fleet, and growing too. Not that much faster than a flying dutchman though.

Even the Laser is not immune

Oh yes, family matters are surely involved ;-) Still, the fact is that they killed the fastest boat in the olympics, by a mile. One of the very few ones that may actually make people wonder about sailing because it is just spectacular. Another point would be that if you get the panel of...
