there is a stainless steel plate under the gelcoat of the mast step and after a little use you can start seeing the rim of it and eventually the paint/gelcoat wears off and falls out (mine did this year/2002 laser). Not a big deal the stainless is sealed well to the mast step, and no water...

I'm sure that the summer upright on bunks wont hurt it much, laser is really light. But if your planning on doing it every year, then maybe you might want to consider better support, plus with better support you will reduce the possibility of having it blown away, etc... I'm open to a large...

The pwc lift sounds like a genious idea! I should have thought of that myself, i build a ramp that is about 1/2 feet off the water and drag my old boat up and down it (hard on the gelcoat). The only thing that crosses my mind about the idea is you will want to have some kind of tie down...

ya, sorry... It's the grey gelcoat (just checked) that's peeling off, this worries me since the water can get in between the glass and paint. I thought about what you said to re-paint it, I think it's easier said than done! I'm am just going to start chipping off what i can and throw some...

Should I be worried about the paint inside my centerboard trunk flaking up and breaking off? I am just thinking about possible water getting between the paint and fibreglass. How could I fix it (painting?)

what is a good brand of Teflon to use on your hull? I have been trying to fond other stuff but the only thing I can find is the Starbrite stuff, anything else out there that may be even better? and is the polish/teflon from starbrite good at all?

Umm, Glenn I'm not sure what you mean by that but, I'm not saying "screw the rules." I'm only giving my opinion on the subject of the fairlead block, if someone wants to have a block on the fairlead (like myself) then so be it. If i didn't have a block out there and saw someone that was ahead...

Does anybody know why the mainsheet/traveller blocks on the traveller sit farther down on one tack then on the other? I think it's on the starboard tack i notice that the blocks slide a bit to windward. Port tack doesn't do it though, is this a unknown fact? Might be interesting to solve as...

Yes, I agree with you, I did it myself re paonting and gel-coating the bul, but any other way then how it was built (i.e epoxy bottom) is illegal.
