Hoisting Sail is a Two Person Job?

Good news: after a lot of practicing I did it! Had to use dominant hand to pull up halyard and weaker hand for goose

    New to all things Sunfish/Sailing

Hi Jenn. And congrats. Sound like you are in for many life changing hours of joy and peace. I am 69 years old and started learning three years ago. I only sail in 4-8 mph winds and zip along the bay like a pro. I capsized once sailing with my fearless son-in=law in high winds. Couldn't get back...

Hoisting Sail is a Two Person Job?

Thank you. I do this on shore. I try to hold halyard in left hand and raise gooseneck with my right. I get sail up and then gooseneck falls to bottom. I plan to keep on trying and practicing.

    sunfish cover repair question

Dear TickTack: you are so clever. We were able to fix cover quickly using your technique. Turns out just one side of elastic was out. Tricky part was getting elastic through the small opening in order to have it not easily slip out again. And of course I tied big knots at end and will check them...

Hoisting Sail is a Two Person Job?

My husband helps me hoist although I do the slip knots and all. I try to do it solo but can't seem to manage. Last summer it all crashed down on my left thumb which made for a sore few months. I wonder if you all are able to raise the sail solo and if so do you have any tips?

Where does the daggerboard bungee go?

Also, the cord keeps the daggerboard near the boat when you capsize. I "now" tie the bungee well too the mast. Live and learn, live and learn. Trust me!

    sunfish cover repair question

So the elastic cord that threads through and around the cover has come out. I can't seem to get it to thread back in. Has anyone had this issue and possibly figured out how to do it?

Main sheet cleat that locks in

Thanks for your replies. I wish I had taken a picture of the thing when I was in Maine. But I can see that it used to be sort of standard on older Sunfish boats and these were older. I can manage with my new boat cleat but might add a different one if I come across it. Note for the person who...

Main sheet cleat that locks in

Hi. I bought a new sunfish last year and asked about a cleat that when you pull main sheet up locks it in, and releases the main sheet when you yank it down. . I was told they don't offer those any longer. But last week I sailed a lake in Maine at a resort and all of their sunfish had them. Does...

    Winter storage

Thank you all. We will store in a heated garage on the dolly with spars and sail alongside. I will look for a striped button down shirt— have everything else all ready. Meantime I hope to get one last weekend of sailing next week if the forecast holds.
