What about this, At the end of the tube where the gooseneck would be, cut out a section large enough to accomodate, then glue in a pvc cap , make sure it fits tight and covers up the opening and you will have a nice secure watertight tube to protect everything. Whadayathink?
Has anyone tried making a storage tube from some large diameter PVC. Maybe that would be a way to store/protect the mast, spars, and sail while travelling. Cap the ends but have one end that can be removed. Now just figure out a way to mount the thing on the SF trailer, or strap it to the boat...
Ummmm, I found my stripped hull on the side of the road for free, it was in my neighborhood and I did talk to the person that was getting rid of it. Mine is a 1970 model and the hull is very solid, very few spider cracks, only one small hole on the keel that I am working on. I plan on buying...
In 1987 I spent the summer on the beach near the Sandestin beach resort in South Walton county in Northwest Florida, a little private area known as "Tango Mar". The house I rented came with a little Snark sailboat, ( I learned to sail with one of these when I was 10 yrs old), and from June to...
Ummmm, Nevermind. After viewing the information about the Super Sunfish at "Sunfish Sailor/Yahoo" I have come to the conclusion that the "Super" is basically the same as the Sunfish but with different sail, mast, boom, coaming, and rigging. Seems complicated, (my old Hobie didn't seem that...
I have seen a Super Sunfish on ebay recently. Is the "Super" the same as a typical Sunfish but with more sail area? I know the set up (mast/ single boom) is different (reminds me of a 14' Hobie I had when I was a teenager). If they use the same hull, could a Sunfish be made into a Super Sunfish...
Does anyone have any recomendations for a good fiberglass repair kit? I have seen a kit at Wal-Mart by the "Bondo" corporation for about $10.00, anyone ever use this kit. Nearest West Marine is about an hour away, any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
Marty
www.jfreeman.com will give info on Sea Board, but I like the cutting board material better, now that I have researched it. Oh and I think I was wrong about this stuff being used as cutting boards.
Thanks for the tip. The product I saw is "Sea Board". You can "Google" it to see what I am talking about, in fact it is used as cutting boards also. Sounds like it is the way to go.
Thanks,
Marty
I was watching a show called "Ship Shape TV" and saw a product called "Sea Board" and was wondering if anyone had ever heard of this product ,and if this would make a good lightweight backing material for mounting deck hardware instead of using wood, this stuff would not absorb water. Something...
The answer to this may be based on personal preference.
Is there a standard diameter size when it comes to deck plates/ inspection ports? I want to install three ports, bow (so that I can mount the handle), mid port behind the splash guard for storage or ventilation, and stern for a rudder...
Exactly, as a matter of fact I want to upgrade anything I can on this old boat. Kind of a good thing, I am starting with a blank sheet (er, uh, hull that is).
Thanks,
Marty
