Surprisingly the Laser will get the vote on the Laser forum!
I also sail a Laser Vago single handed/with a crew, it takes a bit of learning but is a LOT of fun!
You need a vang! It'll be a lot easier (and safer) to sail with one. The boom will stay attached to the mainsheet if you capsize, but keeping the boom on isn't the purpose of the vang, it's used to control the boat. Invest in one!
There's a technique for recovering from a capsize (the best is...
Makes sense, I've got the Holt rather than Harken kicker, so I'm not sure if that's a 5 or a 1/4" hole, anyway, I know a guy at our club uses a hook, pinched the idea from him :)
I'll post something if I find a problem with the carabiner style hook
Sorry, just that websites will be lazy in their descriptions of things, and, the metric system can be more specific than imperial (yep, that won't start a war).
Regardless, is there any issue in using the following hook instead and leaving the (clevis?) pin as it is...
the US pin equates to 6mm x 12.5mm, the RWO one is 5mm by 12mm, I wouldn't be surprised if they're the same though, inches won't be as accurate, it's most likely the same pin
That said, I've ordered a carbine hook instead for £2.50 instead of £15 for the pin!
For the UK guys, I've just ordered this:

I'll confirm if it works, should be the same as the others above!
I bought a waterproof speaker including housing thing from ebay for around £10 and stuck a small MP3 player in it, then just put the toestrap through it:
Sorry, I did realise that came out as a bit of a "my cousin knows a guy who knows someone who went to school with the pope" type web rumour! I don't want to burn any bridges I've built, so I won't specifically name anyone, but yeah, it's someone who knows the boats very well, and has access to...
Just to put the cat amongst the pigeons, I have heard (from those what know) the XTM boards make a pretty big difference on pointing and speed, so, let the arguments begin!
Ok, so I went out yesterday afternoon in the Laser for the first time yesterday afternoon having sailed a Vago for 9 months or so.
I mounted the GoPro camera on the transom with the suction cup mount.
I think static works better than on the boom - (compared to Vago YouTube- Trapeze Run which...
Haha, first post!
I've been using the GoPro for a long time on my Vago, just bought a Laser this week and am going to get some good mounting points sorted.
Bow mounted isn't great, you can use the Vented Helmet Strap mount to go round the mast with a couple of adapters, this is good, but only...
