Show off YOUR Laser!

You start a thread about posting pictures of our Lasers and yet you don't even do so in your opening post?

That's just weak, man.

It's weak that you don't even consider the possibility I don't own a Laser right now.

Personally, I wouldn't have even clicked "New Thread" then.

My '05 and my '08. Not a huge fan of the white. Don't mind the solid colour, but a darker gray would have been nice.

Nice.

She looks in good shape.

Don't you bottom your vang out in like five knots, though?
..actually 5.7kts ;)...since that picture was taken i've shortened up line above the cascade...good observation...
Speaking of observations it looks like a true blockhead is sailing your red and white laser!:D
Cheers Eric

Great boat xflyer95,

Another observation which may help, it looks like your outhaul line is crossed in that picture.

yeah when I zoomed in it is definitely crossed! I usually thread the line "up" thru the block at the mast ....then down thru the aft rolling block ...and then they stay nice and parallel! I must have been in a hurry.
It's cool that we can see that stuff on these pics :D

I have had a couple of different boats. That little guy likes to sail with me :D. To bad I am not in need of crew when laser racing.

Hey, these are all great pictures - thanks for sharing! I'm new to the forum, and I find them a great inspiration. In fact, I'm so new to laser sailing, that I'm going down to Portland, OR on Wednesday, to pick up my first ever Laser. The closest I've been to a Laser was sailing a Sunfish once, and I totally loved it.

FWIW, I live on an island in Puget Sound (Whidbey), have about 10-12 years of keel boat sailing experience, 10 years of power boating experience, and the last 19-20 years windsurfing. I plan to use the Laser for day sailing, as it is too hard to get to Seattle to compete on a regular basis. I'm hoping to get proficient enough with it to eventually do some heavy weather sailing.

I'm very excited to be getting the Laser, and maybe I'll share some pictures of it later.

Oh - and brace yourselves for a ton of beginner questions! :)

This are my two. Orange Roughy is a '75 model and Yellow Belly is a 77 one. Both are in great c ondition and I'm finding them fun to sail. Now just have to convince the kids that if they come out with me we won't always be tipping out

Because I don't want people knowing who I am?

That's pretty much it.

So suppose someone were to post a bunch of "Dr. Crash" type photos, with the faces and sail numbers blanked out, and claim that they were you? Here's Shatty capsizing at the start. Here's Shatty mooning the race committee.

Then again if nobody knows who you are, it probably doesn't matter.

Oh come on you chickens! I didn't change my face and I have a valid reason to fear for my life !!

Here's a picture of me being chased by a Spanish Pirate (he was after my ship). You can see the grim look of determination on his face behind me....

I was running for my life!

1) Was a joke...
2) What's wrong with anonymity?

1. Glad it was a joke, but after the kerfuffle over the weight lifting program, it's hard to tell.

2. Anonymous posters often don't care what they say. They feel they can post with impunity because no one knows who they are. As long as an anonymous poster remains civil, there's no problem.

1. Haha. It's hard to tell just how things are said over the internet. They sometimes come across in a more malicious manner than intended.

Side note re: that thread: I deadlifted

2. Well, to a certain degree, you're correct. Some would say that is the beauty of the internet. There's no reason to be unnecessarily nasty, but hey, stuff happens.

Hey the guy in this ad (the one on the left) looks just like me. Could be my twin.
Will offer a reward 2 anyone who can tell me who it is.

ps. The reward may be less tangible then more traditional one's
