Hi All...

I'm in the process of relocating from Rhode Island to Charleston, SC. I'm wondering if any of the clobs have Laser racing programs that are not just for kids? Thanks...

Kraken, since you started the string - why not sum up what you learned as others who come here are probably interested? Thanks, Mark

Contact me. I'm the district secretary and I live in Charleston. We are a very active district.

Hey Rob, that's exactly my point . . . this is a forum. Why not just post your answer generally right here so the next guy or gal cruzin' for info (or just simply comes across it has an idea). I don't need specific info right now, but if it were here It would be 'good to know for future' when traveling thru.
Thanks

I found out that there is active laser racing in the area, and if I understood correctly there is weekly racing on Tuesday evenings in addition to many weekend regattas within driving range (like in Savannah and such). The downside is that you have to be a member of a yacht club to story your laser anywhere near the water, otherwise you need to have a trailer and keep your boat at home.

Which yacht club has Tuesday adult laser races?

Kraken is correct. Tuesday evenings the College of Charleston Sailing Club offers organized racing in their club owned 420's, FJ's and Lasers. You need to be on the dock by 5/5:30 which is underneath the bow of the York Town on Patriots point.

I too have just relocated to Charleston from Annapolis, MD, and am interested in sailing my Laser. Presently, the boat is still in Annapolis, but am looking for a club and avenue in which to sail/race here. I read the string of posts from April, but looking for some more specific info.

thanks

Rob B, Kraken, what did you learn? We've just moved here as well, would enjoy some racing. Thanks
Regarding Charleston area only. As posted above Tuesday nights, (beginning in May and ending August) at College of Charleston Sailing Club Patriots Point Dock under Aircraft Carrier Yorktown. Additionally, Thursday nights James Island Yacht Club starting in June and running through August. JIYC will also host frostbiting every other Sunday from January until March. The D12 website is struggling at the moment, but we're hoping to fix that. Until then I'm the Oracle for D12 info. Just the way it is. I'm happy to put anyone on my email distribution list, (currently about 150 sailors) which is the best source for all D12 info and updates.

Do you know of any New Years?/Christmas laser regattas in D12 that are happening this year?

I've moved from Rhode Island to NY and then to Charleston. I'm interested in Laser racing, so any details will be helpful. Just a few days ago I relocated a boat and I'm looking for a yacht club, etc. Previously it was easier 'cause I only rent a boat from a yacht rental near me, but now I need to find a place where to keep it and some events llike competitions. I wish I could fit in your club and I wanna find information on how to do it. We'll have excellent Laser racing together.
