Locating the hull number and correct rigging replacements.

I'm in the process of helping a friend relaunch the 14.2 that was left to her by her deceased partner. As far as I can tell from the original rigging diagram and parts list, the boat's a 1983 model. Can someone tell me where to look for the hull number so I can determine correct rigging? Will the rudder assembly from a 1996 model fit a 1983?

Her boat also has a small electric outboard (I believe it's a trolling motor and not mounted). Has anyone mounted one on their boat and, if so, where do you secure the battery? Thanks!

My Mod 1 had the ID plate on the inner transom. And standby for some pics of how I set my trolling motor up with a slick battery system that's real user-friendly. If I struggle attaching the pics you may have to wait for a day or two but you'll love this setup!

Thanks! That will really help as we get this Capri back on the water!!

Also, sometimes the serial number is hand scribed on the back of the transom.
Contact me off list if you have questions, as I'm in the Atlanta area.

The two previous images show the scribed transom - starboard side - and the builder's plate on the inside of a "mod 2."

My boat's a bit newer than yours, so this may not apply, but as Caljr64 states, sometimes the serial numbers are scratched into the gel coat at the stern, just below the rub-rail.
That’s where mine are.
