Laser upper mast

I'm not sure anyone is ready to cut one in half yet. That is if anyone actually has one....

My understanding is they are sealed on the ends. So, no caps to be removed.
What's that rivet doing there, then...?

We manufacture and sell in USA practice aluminium masts and now we made a composite one but to obtain the same stiffness, wall thickness has to be a little greater. I have never seen a new one with no posibilitiy to get one in the near future because I live in Argentina. That is why I am asking.
Next week end we plan to test it in windy condition and waves.

Ok. Looks like you can pull the cap off. I revert back to issue "B". No one can get them. I have friends who have placed orders months ago. Hell, even the $3.00 dagger board brakes are back ordered more than 30 days.... as are some tiller extensions. The list goes on and on which is why I can see the desire to make a non-class legal section.

Honestly, I see the whole "class legal parts" thing evaporating as local Districts and clubs are going to start, (many have already started) allowing people to use non-class legal items to keep boats on the water and encourage more people to sail.

I'm actually a fan of this now. Screw LP!! It's a shame our organizing authority has been castrated....

I agree and was saying something similar to my son just this week. This conversation came up when I attempted to purchase a set of Laser Performance, class-legal, battens for him to use at CORK. I contacted a number of suppliers only to be told they had zero LP battens and did not know when they would get any. Finally I found a place on the East Coast that had them and ordered two sets so he would have a back up set simply because I was worried about finding another set at a later date. I mean, really, I live in the middle of the Great Lakes Region - finding a set of class-legal battens should NOT be a monumental feat.

Our sales policy is: sailors train months and race just a couple of days. So, train with ours that are the same and cost only a half, saving the other for racing. You will save a lot of money.
