Just got back from the NSW&ACT Laser Masters Championships, helping on the comittee boat not sailing (17 years too young)

64 Standard Rigs
57 Radial Rigs

Is it the biggest Masters event aside from the Masters Worlds?

Laser Masters European Championships

62 Standard Rigs
45 Radial Rigs

Any others that get bigger fleets? english?, NA?

We had 132 boats at the North American Masters in 2003 - Not sure of the breakdown between full/radial.

It was in Newport RI.

Hey

As I would be in the Masters class, is there anywhere I can get complete info of all the reasonably large Masters competitions in the U.S. and Overseas?

I checked the ILCA's website and they don't have too much. I suppose I could write all the districts in the U.S. (or e-mail, better) and get a list from all of those. If I felt competitive I guess I could go to europe to compete in some too!! I wonder, are there any restrictions on U.S. sailors going over to challenge a regional or national regatta overseas??

Thanks for any info guys

You can sail in any event excluding the Laser Worlds (except you have to be over 35 for Masters). But if you win a major event in Australia they won't award you the trophy - they only give them to Aussies.

What are the conditions needed to enter the Laser worlds?? Do you have to compete in a certain number of prescribed events throughout the year, and come in the top, say, 10 of each??

What a great website you guys have. I should volunteer and get a decent site for Miami Beach here. I loved the action shots. Looked like a great couple of days for racing.

One question. Do you guys race all year round like here?

Yeah great pics indeed. Looked like a great reggatta. I'll have to try and make it next year.

Sunray - we are in our peak racing season Oct to Feb (summer) but there is racing accurring all year round in Australia.

Hi Michelle.

Yes, I have heard about the orange Bowl. I wonder why there are not tons of regattas down here? Maybe the wind does not blow hard enough??

Anyway, I will contact you once I get some skill level on the Laser and we can do some freindly ( but serious!!!?) match racing.

I have not bought the Laser yet because I don't know where to store it. In Miami beach you can't have a trailer and so I have been looking at alternatives. Also, I am looking at ways to car-top the thing, as I am by myself, and when I want to go I WANT TO GO!!! It IS 130 pounds, after all. There is a hydraulic lift for a large kayak..maybe I could modify it....

Anyway...hope to talk soon.....

Ray
