Launching from a sandy beach

Has anyone tried to launch a Capri 14.2 from a beach? Specifically, I was thinking about getting a kayak dolly, sliding the boat off of the trailer and onto the dolly and rolling it over the beach to the water. West Marine has a kayak dolly that can handle 300 lbs and looks like it might work. I assume I would have to hold up the bow of the boat while pushing it (with the stern riding on the dolly.)

Then there is the issue of trying to launch into the ocean waves. Anyone ever try something like this?

We have a Expo 14.2 that we keep on a beach in the Straits of Mackinaw on a Seitech dolly with large tires. To launch it, we roll it into the water a couple of feet so its deep enough to slide the dolly off. My wife holds the boat with a rope and I put the dolly on the beach. She gets in the boat and I am in the back of the boat and move it out a little away from shore. It is very shallow where we are. I have a small plastic ladder in the rear and I hop in the boat and away we go. We've done this for the last several years and we are close to being Senior Citizens. We get some pretty good waves some times which makes the launch a bit more difficult with some strong wind, but we manage and it's not too bad. We love the boat and sailing in the straits.
