I'm having new standing rigging made. I want to go with 316 SS 1/8" wire instead of the original 3/32" wire for added strength. I will be using an Aircraft fork for one end and an aircraft eye on the other. I'm worried that the little extra diameter will cause a problem clipping the jib to the forestay. Has anyone ever gone with 1/8" wire? What do you guys think? Are there any other problems I might run into? Thanks, William.

William, if you are thinking that the jib hanks will not go around the 1/8" cable, I am guessing that it won't be a problem! admittedly, I can't check it physically, since my boat is an hour and a half drive away. I could see the plastic covered cable being a problem though.

I had beefed up shrouds made by my local sailing shop and have no problem with the jib hanks.
I got my new rigging in last night and everything looks great. I went with 1/8 inch wire with aircraft forks and eyes on either end. The eyes fit well into the shroud adjusters and the jib hanks fit over the thicker wire no problem. Now the only thing that will de-mast me is loosing a deck fitting or the tang on the mast, fingers crossed on those not happening. Have to keep those pins in place too. Now all I need is some sunlight after work to go sailing, can't wait for the time change in two weeks. I hope this spring is as warm as this winter was, i'm ready to go sailing.
