Wondering if inspection port speakers would be possible?

I would love to have speakers on my Laser but theres no really creative or permanent solution. People have designed the Bottleport and the Fat Bag to work with or as an inspection port. It would be awesome to have speakers as an inspection port and then maybe the iPod could go in a Fat Bag below the speaker. Just a thought but I think it would be an incredible addition to an boat.

I was thinking the exact same thing while I was sitting out on the water in dead wind yesterday. Maybe I'll give it a go. The hardest part would be making it possible to control it from the outside.

That would be absolutely awesome I would sail so much better if I was bumping some tunes. If you could find waterproof speakers and a waterproof case for ur ipod it could work maybe... this is much easier said than done

Definitely possible. you can find waterproof speakers that are like 40 watts and three inches in diameter, so they wouldnt take up as much space as a five inch inspection port. better yet you could probably install 5 or 6 inch inspection ports and cut the covers to the propper diameter and drop the speakers in.

Dude, the water is singing a song the whole time you're sailing.

What song could possibly enhance that?

Now, it it's for intimidation or something during a race, that's different. "Ride of the Valkyries" as you steadily overtake some poor schmuck for example.

Do you know of any speakers like this? (Within budget of course)

I just did a quick search on the internet for "small waterproof speakers". In our case though, by that i mean sailing lasers that get wet, they might need to be submersible. Any thing you find, i would call the distributor and ask. I've seen speakers installed on J24's on either side of the companion-way before. these boats get wet too, but we would have to worry about the occasional "bowplow" into the back of a wave or just waves in general.

A pool speaker might work, and those are wirelessly controlled so they could have the controls be underneath in a Fat Bag and work on batteries.
