Will this mast step hold? Pics

I finally got around to cleaning the base and sanding it. I chipped away what I could with the doughnut. What was left was fairly strong. After checking the psi strengths of Marine Tex putty, I gave it a shot. Really is a lot like steel.

Should it need another layer? Maybe some fiberglass cloth?

I think your alright. If you really want to go all out lightly sand the marine-tex and put one or two layers of glass around the step. The marine-tex is really great stuff. I use it all over my laser.

I highly recommend some layers of glass here. I"ve heard the marine tex can get dry/brittle over time.
