What year was my Sunfish built?

There is a metal tag on the starboard side of the transom which shows "AMF 10394 M84A" and it also has a serial number molded in to the port transom which reads "010274".

I found a website which advises the metal tag identifies the production date as 1984 however it also advises in a separate paragraph the serial number may indicate the production date was 1974.

After 1973 all boats had to follow a uniform serial number format. The 2 rightmost numbers indicate the model year. So in your case, you boat is a 1984.
