Double world champion Laser sailor Tom Slingsby will be participating in the A-Cat Worlds, Jan 2-8 in Belmont, NSW, Australia. Now that's a change of pace!
Want to put some money on how Tom will finish?

He will be first, beating Glenn Ashby, among others :D

Glenn wins but Tom finishes in the top ten :)

Tom finishes somewhere in the 11-39 group.

He will be somewhere in the middle, say 40-60

He will DNF or DSQ too many times and end up somewhere between 60 and 100 :eek:. Back to the Laser....

I know several top flight international sailors that play with A Class every now and then. These guys struggle to get much above mid fleet, so I'll say 11-39, my best guess would be around 18th, but I have no clue who else is racing this year.

Here is the latest from the A-cats Worlds down under:

After three races Tom is in 35th place. His finishes were;

Race 1: 27
Race 2: 3 :)
Race 3: DNF :eek:; counts for 95 points

After six races, Tom is in 20th place.

He finished 22, 7, and 38 in races 4 through 6 and was able to throw out his DNF in race 3.

Glenn Ashby is truly master of the roost, with finishes of 3 (discard), 1, 1, 1, 1, and 2.
James Spithill is in second place.

Right now it doesn't look like Tom is going to make the top ten. Madyottie may have hit the nail on the head :D, but it isn't over until it's over...
