Roll Tack Tips

So I've been sailing my laser for about a month now and have made a video of a few tacks. Anyone have any tips or suggestions for improvement? Thanks.

you need alot more vang. you want to pull it till all the slack is out, and then pull it alitle more in that wind going up wind. when you flatten let the sail go out about 1'-2' and pull it in once the boat is flat. but you r tacks dont look that bad.

nice job!

as ang said, more vang.

when you head up into the tack, trim in block to block. Then ease as you begin the roll, you want to be eased out slightly on the new tack. Flatten with a hard hike and trim in to the new course.

if you roll too much and the blades are out of the water, wait till they are back in the water to hike the boat flat.

in flat water you can get a little extra height, in waves, even small ones it's important to get going on the new tack.

There are a bunch of different ways, Rob and Andrew are really fast:

Andrew has a bigger roll in lighter air, he said he kicks his foot under the grab rail to initiate the roll like that.

it's alot about feel and personal preference, if you come out on the new tack with speed that's all that counts!

Hope this helps!
