Replacing O-rings on auto-bailer

I believe that the o-rings in my auto-bailer need to be replaced. As a relatively new laser sailor I have no idea how to do this. Can anyone give me or point me to a link that gives me a step-by-step on how to do this (geared for the less handy among us)?

Thanks

There used to be some stainless springs that you could fit in place of the O-rings - advantage being they would last unlike the O-rings. Not sure if they are still available or if they are legal yet (I seem to remember there was a rule change going to make them legal but I don't know if it was passed). Might be worth checking up on though because it strikes me that if you have to do the work, might as well do it with something that will last.

My interest in what others answer is because I have to di mine as well (the O-rings lasted around 3 months on a brand new boat !!).

Thanks for the input on springs. I have some (and some O-rings). What I don't have is any idea of how best to put them in place

You have to take the bailer off, turn over the boat, it's held in place with a screw. Maybe some caulk too.

+ 1 for the springs,

They're very good. My bailer even has one of the little pegs missing and is still works fine using the springs, using the O rings it would pull to one side

+1 for the springs.

I have them on my boat and fitted them to another boat in the fleet recently. A little fiddly but well worth it and I know I won't have to do it again for a long time!

You can purchase the O rings from a specialist o-ring place for about $AUS5 per 100. Or Probably $AUS2 for 10 from a hardware. They are a stock standard size and readily available.

This is the ialian way. I have to say that I did not think about fixing the bailer then I said myself...why not and there it came my solution. A piece of stainless steel, a small hole 1.5 mm diameter and that is it! ;-)))
So far it work perfectly...
