Outhaul Clew Block With Hook

Hey guys would this block with a hook fit on the eye of the sail at the clew? I was just wondering if the hook itself was large enough to bridge the gap between the eye and the edge of the leech.

But its not the one usually used (at least in the UK). I've got this one:

Yeh I had that set up with the (official) metal clew slider.....hated it..the slider kept digging in under tension. It's now part of a prize package for my laser fleet ( giving it away )

I actually use a small shackle with a micro block for my clew, works quite fine for me.
