OK, so I broke out the mast step.

Pix below, but it seems like there should be a repair kit like there is for Lasers. I'm not finding a kit for Sunfish. Have you done this repair? I've looked at some info on the Sunfish Forum, they talk about adding an inspection port and working thru it. Fiberglass guy I'm speaking with is saying cut out a section on the top and repair that way. Appreciate any experience you can share. Thanks in advance, Winever.

You are facing a major repair. To get a discussion going, please post your pictures over here. To see pictures on SA, one needs to sign in, and not many here, I suspect are willing to do that.

2. I vaguely remember one or two threads a few years ago on this Forum about major mast tube/step repairs. Please use the Search function to find them. Go to the Advanced search section and use Sunfish Talk as the Forum you want to search. Otherwise you will get a lot of Laser specific info. Here is a start:

Very likely, you will need to go to the links referred to in the above thread and dig deeper.
PS: just found this thread which appears relevant:

3. My 'gut' feeling is that you will need to make, or get, another mast tube and anchor it solidly to the bottom of the hull and the deck (flange). You will need to improvise, because one cannot buy a mast tube, AFAIK. PVC pipe of the right diameter perhaps, or you can advertize in the Wanted section for one salvaged from another fish.

Here's the pix

There is a Free Windflite mast tube in the for sale section. Can you Frankenstein this tube to a Sunfish and glass it in?

I have a Viking mast tube you could have for free. The Viking is a replica of a Sunfish (they used the same mold). I'm going to cut up the Viking and dispose of it so if you want the mast tube it's yours. If you have any requests as to how you want the tube removed, let me know.
