I just got my boat back from the shop who fixed some damage. They forgot to give me the mast step bolt. Im gonna have the shop mail it to me, since its a little bit of a drive.

I want to sail this weekend and need a substitute.

Does anyone have the specs for this bolt so I can pick one up at home depot? Will this be ok, or do I need a special bolt with more sheering strength?

Buy a galvo nut and bolt that fits the mast and mast step. The loads are not big and it will work as long as you want even though it will rust at some point.

    Mast Bolt

I think the bolt is 3/8-16 thread size. Measure the width of the bracket that the mast goes into and add 1 inch. Then go the Sears hardware and buy a stainless bolt and wing nut. Now if you get the old one back you will have a spare.

    Good Luck

    Bolt Size

The size I ended up using is a 1/2" diameter and 3.5" length.
    Thanks guys.
