Hyères, FranceApril 22, 2007With a light sea breeze fighting the land breeze, and delivering light and fluky conditions, this was a day where luck, perseverance and local knowledge all came into play at the Semaine Olympique Française regatta. Bearing that out, young French sailor Charlotte Blon, a relative newcomer to the Laser Radial Class, is the points leader at the end of Day One with two second place finishes and four points overall. Charlotte is currently ranked 292 in the ISAF world rankings. There are 105 boats racing here in two fleets and the soft and puffy breeze left them scattered all over the course. There are some very good names deep in the results table after Day One. The notable exception is Jo Aleh from New Zealand who is second overall with five points after 1-4 finishes.
