I recently purchased a used Bahia. I noticed that when extending the centerboard, it can go forwards of the full down (vertical) position to a forward tilt. I pull it back to where I estimate it is vertical. Shouldn't there be some sort of stop to prevent this from happening? Also, being an older boat, it has the lower side stays. The newer boats do not. Does this mean the manufacturer has determined the lowers are really not necessary, or that the newer boats have a stiffer mast and do not require lower stays. Thanks.
