How to repair broken keel bungee?

My wife and I had a great time sailing our 16.5 at BOOTS on Texoma this past weekend, but our bungee (almost) broke that holds our keel down. The outer casing busted and there were barely a few threads left to hold the keel down!

So... those of you that have changed these before, be it the 14.2 or the 16.5, please let me know. Thanks. ~ Les
