bolting gooseneck?

I thought I remembered a thread from a couple years ago describing how to replace the gooseneck riviets with bolts. My rivets have loosened up & I suspect the holes in the lower mast section may have some corrosion so thought bolting would be best.

Just in case I decide to re-rivet, what is the apropriate rivet size?
