Anyone straightened a rudder blade ?

Ive a crompton rudder blade I use for practice & its bent like a banana,
I heated it up with a hot air gun, got it to the pliable state & managed to get it dead straight.
I cooled it on a marble worktop until cool on both sides checked again dead straight.
The next morning went & checked my handywork, bent like a banana again.
so my question is what am I doing wrong ?

I would guess you may need to keep 'warming' it while it cools to lengthen the cooling down process.

yea try cooling it differently and/or maybe clamping it overnight

water trapped inside the rudder can also cause this kind of warping

I've had some experience with a bent board, and the above comments are correct. Heat it up and lay a board atop it with cinderblocks on it overnight. I would caution against clamping it too tightly or you might face cracking. Good luck.
