A Cape Fear 38, the Cynthia Woods, from Texas A&M-Galveston in the Vera Cruz race was found by the Coast Guard capsized out in the Gulf this afternoon. News reports said four students and two staff were sailing the boat. None were found with the capsized boat, and there is presently a search underway for the missing sailors.

I saw on CNN this morning that 5 out of 6 sailors were picked out of the water by the coast guard early this morning. There is a missing man.

The remaining crew member, safety officer Roger Stone, was found dead inside the boat. He was instrumental in getting some of the crew out of the boat once it flipped over, but apparently did not make it out himself. By all account he died a hero.
