The Inaugural 2010 Charlotte Harbor Regatta, which will include seven one-design classes, will include a huge Sunfish division that is sure to attract frost-bitten northerners to sunny Southwest Florida for the Feb. 5-7, 2010 regatta.

Race director Brian Gleason announced the final dates following a vote of the race committee this week. The regatta also will include A-Class cats and Flying Scots. Class representatives from Viper SB3, Laser 640, Melges 20, Melges 24, J/22 and J/24 are also being invited to bring their fleets to Charlotte Harbor, which was named by SAIL magazine as one of the "10 greatest places to sail in the United States."

The Sunfish are no strangers to Charlotte Harbor. The midwinters were held here recently, as were the Olympic Soling Trials and the Olympic Windsurfer Trials. Former Sunfish Nationals champion Dennis Peck serves on the race committee, which is working with Steve Olive from the Edison Sailing Center on the regatta.

Charlotte Harbor is about two hours south of Tampa on Florida's Gulf Coast. For information on Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf Islands, please go to www.charlotteharbortravel.com.
